This sorting centre belonged till then to the company Delta Recyclage. This structure, built in 2001, is an essential link in the recycling process and the obliged passage for the waste from the selective collection: papers, newspapers, magazines, cardboards, food bricks, plastic bottles and metallic cans.
The sorting centre which employs 25 agents will receive from now on the 6000 tons of the domestic recyclable packaging collected annually on the territory of the SICTOM.
The acquisition of this equipment allows the SICTOM to be autonomous and answers the optimization objectives fixed for the selective collection.
The various stages of the sorting, essential for the good progress of the process, are henceforth under control of the SICTOM. Number of the users wonder about these stages which are neither numerous, nor complex but they require a big professionalism of the agents. After the collection, the trucks are heading for the sorting centre. There, they are weighed to register the weight of the recyclable materials before their characterization.
The characterization consists in taking a typical sample of the load and to analyze it. It allows to gather the information necessary to fix the rate of sorting error of the area where took place the collection.
The load, put down on the floor, is then placed on a conveyer belt which will go in front of the agents in charge of sorting out manually the various materials by categories. Material by material, they are then compacted, put in ball, and send towards the various networks of the recycling.
